LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine…” (Titus 2:1, the Holy Bible)

MAKATI RTC’S DENIAL OF MOTIONS VS. TRILLANES ANCHORED ON PAST SC DECISIONS: It was a decision that aimed to be unshaken---the denial, I mean, which was issued by the Makati City Regional Trial Court, Branch 50, against the motions of the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the court to order the arrest and the curtailment of the right to travel abroad of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, after the lawmaker was stripped by President Duterte of the amnesty granted to him earlier by then President Benigno Aquino III.

Why am I saying that the denial of the DOJ’s motions aimed to be unshaken? Simply because the court’s presiding judge, the Honorable Elmo Alameda, anchored his disquisition against the DOJ’s requests against the former Navy officer on the petition that he, the lawmaker, promptly filed with the Supreme Court to contest the revocation of his amnesty by President Duterte.

The fact is that, there are now a lot of cases decided by the Supreme Court earlier on, in which it ruled that when there is already a case pending before the courts or appropriate quasi-judicial agencies of government, particularly with the Supreme Court, it would do well for lower courts to refrain from acting on cases before them that raise the same issues as those raised before other courts. This kind of a ruling is called the “forum shopping” or the “litis pendentia” rule, or “judicial courtesy”. Because of this, it is safe to say that Trillanes is “safe” in the meantime from any arrests.

BIBLICAL PROOFS OFFERED BY JESUS THAT HE IS GOD THE FATHER (III): Aside from the pronouncements of Jesus in John 8 in which he confirmed in no uncertain manner that He is “I Am”, or the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we can see that He made the same claims that He, Jesus, is God the Father, in John 14.

In John 14, Jesus was talking with His disciples, particularly Thomas and Philip. It was Thomas who said, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Philip, on the other hand, requested Jesus: “Lord, show the Father to us and we will be satisfied…”

Replying to Thomas, Jesus said, ”If you know me, you would know my Father too. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.”

As far as Philip’s request was concerned, Jesus said, “...You have been with me for quite some time now, and yet you still don’t know me, Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. Why are you saying show to us the Father?”

Indeed, there is no mistaking what Jesus meant with those pronouncements of His: He is God the Father, and because the disciples already saw Him (Jesus), they already saw the Father as well. And because the disciples already knew Jesus, they already know the Father, too. It cannot be doubted, on the basis of these statements, that Jesus was saying He indeed is God the Father.

“ILAW SA BATAS”, NEW FREE LEGAL COUNSELING PROGRAM, PREMIERES ON RADIO AND FACEBOOK LIVE: I am happy to report to all of you that my brand of giving free legal counseling on air, through the radio, has resumed, with the same objective that I had when I first engaged in providing legal assistance to the poor and the needy in 1994---to help those who direly needed legal advice but who are without any money to pay for lawyers’ consultation fees. This took place on Monday, September 10, 2018, over at Star Radio Catbalogan City, from 12 noon to 1 in the afternoon.

The program is now called “Ilaw ng Batas”, or  “Light of the Law” (no longer Kakampi Mo Ang Batas), and this is now being pushed by “090818 Magiting Media Network Incorporated”. Joining me in the program is former Cagutsan, Catbalogan City Bgy. Capt. Oscar Maribojoc Jr., who is now popularly known as “Papa JR”, my brother Philip Mauricio (“DJ Philip”), and broadcaster Angel Cynthia Ramirez.

But this program is not only to be heard now---it is also being video-streamed, through Facebook Live (under the account of Star Radio Catbalogan City), on a simultaneous basis. This means that our giving of free legal counselling through “Ilaw ng Batas” would no longer be confined to Catbalogan City or Eastern Samar or even the Philippines alone, but in the whole world. We invite everyone to listen and watch Ilaw ng Batas, Mondays to Fridays except Wednesdays, at 12 noon. Thank God in the Name of Jesus, Amen!
