Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA9) regions 9 and ARMM, backed-up by PNP and AFP personnel,  confiscated P10.2-million worth of suspected shabu during an operation in Poblacion, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay last Monday night.

A member of the drug group was killed while a minor was arrested in the operation.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Information Officer,  disclosed that PDEA agents with policemen of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, Provincial Mobile Force Company, Army’s 44th IB and Kabasalan police swooped down on the Poblacion in the said municipality to conduct a buy-bust operation at 8:15 p.m.

One of the suspects, identified as Jamil Asmad, was killed after resisting arrest and engaging lawmen in a shootout.

Alkiezer Canda y Cuartocruz, a minor, was arrested while another cohort, Ibno Ahod alias Utoh, eluded arrest.

Lawmen recovered  two large- sized sachets of suspected shabu weighing 1.5 kilograms with an estimated value of P10.2-million.

Authorities also recovered a .45 caliber pistol and a magazine with live ammunition from the suspects.

PDEA has  prepared charges for violation of section 26 in relation to section 5, Article II of RA 9165 against the suspects.   (Dan Toribio)a
