At least 700 jail inmates have undergone voter’s registration for the 2019 local election during proceedings held by the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the city Zamboanga City jail yesterday.

Jail Officer 3 Rey Laurence E. Comprendio, ZCJ Community Relations Officer, said  that the office is targeting to register 1,624 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

As of press time the commission already registered more than 700 male PDLs.

“Yan push ta coneste cay sila hende pa guilty ta dale ta kanila opportunity para man exercise diila right to vote while taki sila na diatun detention facility,” Comprendio said.

Registrants, who have also undergone biometrics, will use the address of the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center under District 1.

Among visitors who witnessed the registration proceedings aside from jail officials are Zamboanga City District 1 Election Officer Atty. Stephen Roy Cañete, visitors from Comelec Manila, Education and Information Department staff members Liezel Macasu, Sarah Jane Asis, Atty. Niña Rose Abiquibul, Labern Mark Manzano, and Domingo Licuanan. (RGAAGo)
