Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Cary John Pioc has admitted supporting First District Congressman Celso Lobregat but said that his action is not reflective of the sentiments of the entire SK Federation.

In an interview, Pioc said that it is his prerogative on who to support and believes that such is his right, being a Filipino and a Zamboangueño.

Pioc said that he has already consulted the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on his decision.  The DILG reportedly defined being apolitical as not siding with any party during election period.

“Since it’s not yet election period it is your right who you want to support,” Pioc said.

Meanwhile, Pioc said that he still maintains his position on standing firm on voting for what he thinks is right as a member of the City Council.

Pioc issued his statements following allegations from the camp of Zamboanga Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar that the SK President has broken his promise to stay apolitical.

Pior was reportedly spotted several times with Lobregat’s group.

During Pioc’s inaugural speech as SK Federation Representative to the City Council, he said,” My vote will be in favor of the betterment of our city. I will never make decisions that will not benefit the majority,”

Pioc also promised to shy away from politics. “My vote will not represent any political party, color or symbol. I will stand for what is right and just.” (RGAAGo)
