A female kidnap victim was released by her Abu Sayyaf captors within the vicinity of Barangay Anuling, Patikul Municipality in Sulu Province last Friday.

A police report identified the victim as Helen Roda.

Roda was reportedly released by her Abu Sayyaf captors headed by sub-leaders Muher and Injam Yadah.

Unconfirmed reports disclosed that the victim was released in exchange for a P1-million ransom paid with the help of two unidentified negotiators.

The negotiators then escorted the female victim to Zamboanga City on board a passenger vessel.

Couple Roco and Helen Roda were abducted by at least ten armed men at the coastal village of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte last September 1.

Roco was released last October after allegedly paying a P1-million ransom to the lawless group.  (Ely Dumaboc)
