3 nabbed for attempting to shoot at policemen PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Sta. Maria Police Station led by Chief Insp. Felix Martinez arrested three persons including a woman who attempted to shoot them during a police follow-up operation along Brillantes St., Sta. Maria last Monday afternoon.

The suspects were identified as Kimhar Yusop y Abas, 31, single, of Farmer’s Drive, Sta. Maria, his live-in-partner Marie Frances Zabaljauregui y Santiago, 21, of Malagutay and Jeffrey Espiritu of Putik.

The Sta. Maria police station had received a report from an agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group that unidentified persons with gun were spotted aboard a tricycle at Paraiso Homes, Subdivision, Tumaga.

Acting on the report, a police team led by Martinez rushed to Tumaga and while approaching the DPWH compound, they spotted the said tricycle heading towards Brillantes St.

Martinez and his men tried to stop the the tricycle,  but Yusop aimed his 9MM sub machinegun on them and squeezed the trigger. However the gun jammed prompting the police to chase them up to Brillantes St. where the suspects were cornered and arrested    The submachine gun was seized from the possession of Yusop.

Police said that Espiritu was the one who was driving the tricycle while Yusop and his live-in partner were on the sidecar.

Appropriate charges were readied against the suspects.

Meanwhile, police have identified the man who was shot dead at Morning Glory Subdivision, a few meters from the barangay hall of Putik around 11:30 a.m.yesterday.
The fatality was identified as Jaylie Ross M. Camins of Tetuan, this city. He belongs to the large Camins clan of Zamboanga City.
