Man arrested for cutting mangrove trees in Mampang PDF Print E-mail

A man was arrested after he was caught cutting mangrove trees  at a mangrove reforestation project along the coastal part of Mampang the other day. His two companions eluded arrest.

Arrested was Roberto Delos Reyes. His two companions were later known as Bonifacio Baldon and Roland Delos Reyes. Both remain at large.

Members of the Task Force Illegal Logging led by Forester Elpidio Barrere, Jr., were conducting coastal patrol along the mangrove reforestation project when they spotted the three burning branches of cut mangroves and making charcoal.

Delos Reyes was collared while his two companions escaped.
The task force recovered 324 pieces of cut bakawan, 64 bungalon, three wooden rakes, 11 baskets with an estimated market value of P30,000.

The seized cut mangroves were brought to Cenro-West office for safekeeping while Delos Reyes was placed under investigation.

Police said the suspects will be charged of violation of Section 68 of Presidential Decree 705 of the Revised Forestry Code as amended by Executive Order 177 series of 1990. — Dan Toribio Jr.
