“There is no consistency and aggressive efforts in solving the street problem of Zamboanga City.”

Thus how Councilor Cesar “Jawo” Jimenez Jr. looks at the present situation of Zamboanga City with regards to the proliferation of street urchins.

Jimenez, who was the guest during the EL ISYU AHORA program last Monday night over DXKZ 91.5 Wild FM, said the administration of Mayor Celso Lobregat has been
very busy in other infrastructure projects but is not focusing on social problems like the beggars and poo people in the streets.

He said the City Council has passed ordinances and there are even national laws on medicancy and yet they are not consistently enforced in Zamboanga City.

“The campaign to clean the city of Zamboanga should not only be made during Fiesta Pilar,” the opposition councilor said.

“Everywhere you go in the city there are beggars and street children.”

Jimenez recently exposed the irregularity in the City Council relative to the purchase of a three-hectare land in Salaan for a new dumpsite.
