The Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (ZCCIFI) was congratulated in a formal letter signed by Atty. Miguel Varela, chairman, PCCI committee on Awards, that ZCCIFI is one of the top 9 business chamber finalists in the country which are qualified to vie for the coveted and most prestigious annual award bestowed to the most relevant and dynamic business chamber.

PCCI or Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the recognized voice of business in the country. It is headed by its President  Ambassador Francis Chua.

PCCI hosts the annual Philippine Business conference, an annual tradition which gathers the who’s who of Philippine business held at the Manila Hotel. The highlight of the event is the awarding of this year’s Most Outstanding Chamber of the Philippines with no less than President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III to do the honor of bestowing the award to this year’s winner.

ZCCIFI is headed by its President, Pedro Rufo “ Pocholo “ N. Soliven. It was under his leadership that ZCCIFI evolved into a more proactive policy advocacy centering not only for the private business sector interest but for the common good as well.

ZCCIFi took the lead in so many issues affecting the city and help define and collaborate solutions in the process. By being relevant and dynamic business chamber, ZCCIFI gained prominence and respect both locally and regionally, and eventually caught the attention of the PCCI national leadership as well.

Noteworthy in the citation is the increase in membership by 120%  and now the success story of ZCCIFI is being used as a model for replication in other chambers in the country worthy of emulation.

At present, Soliven is in Manila for the panel interview. He is expected to present the Bid book in a Powerpoint presentation highlighting the different projects and events, policy advocacies as well as corporate social responsibility projects that benefitted the business sector and the community as well.
