Two women landed in the hospital after their husbands attacked them with axe and knife in two separate marital violence in Tulungatung and Recodo last Wednesday morning.

The victims were identified as Bernadeth Edinan y Acabo alias Inday, 37, of Purok 8, Recodo and Lydia Berondo y Delos Reyes, 63, married, of Zone 3, Tulungatung.

Edinan was stabbed and wounded by Boy Baybayan, 38, her live-in partner.

A police report disclosed that Baybayan had been maltreating Edinan when they were still living together.

Last November 1, Edinan decided to separate with Baybayan and left their house.

Police said she left a letter addressed to her live-in-partner informing that she would prefer to stay alone rather than live with a husband who keep on abusing her physically.

Two days after, Baybayan learned that Edinan was having an affair with another man and both were living together at Purok 6, Recodo.

Baybayan proceeded to the said place, dragged Edinan out of a boarding house and stabbed her in the body.

Baybayan escaped after the incident while the victim was taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Berondo was axed by her husband Quirino Berondo in Zone 3, Tulungatung.

Initial investigation disclosed that Lydia woke around 6:30 a.m. and proceeded to the kitchen to cook their breakfast.

However, she realized there was no firewood.  She started opening her mouth and blamed her husband Quirino for not preparing firewood for their food.

Lydia grabbed an axe and went outside to get firewood. While she was chopping firewood, she continued nagging her husband. Quirino approached Lydia from behind and suddenly grabbed the axe and attacked her.

Lydia was struck with the axe in the back of the body injuring her.

Quirino left the place, while Lydia was brought th the Western Mindanao Medical Center.
