The City Government stages today a free medical service program dubbed “Fiesta Medical”, offering 10 specialized medical services from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the City Health Office.

City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos confirmed the collaboration of over 10 medical specialists that include a cardiologist to handle heart problems and diseases, rheumatologist for rheumatism concerns, ophthalmologist for eye problems, dermatologist for skin diseases and allergies, surgeon for minor  surgery services, pediatrician for children’s health problems, pulmonologist for lung diseases and discomforts, dentist for tooth extraction, nephrologists for kidneys disorders and gynecologist for the consultation of pregnant women.

Aside from the specialized medical services, the half-day activity will also highlight a feeding program with other ancillary services. These are free laboratory examinations (per recommendation from doctors), blood typing and HIV testing and counseling.

Reading eyeglasses will also be given out for free for the first 50 indigent patients. After the 50th beneficiary, the Zamboanga City Optical, as provider and one of the collaborators will offer a buy-one-take-one scheme of the same eyeglasses at affordable price.

As one of the calendared activities of Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2011, Fiesta Medical is expected to once again benefit many constituents as it always did for 4 years now, according to Agbulos.

Meanwhile, Agbulos also said CHO medical staff has been dispatched since October 1 to key areas where major events of the Hermosa Festival are conducted.

The move, according to him, is to ensure that prompt medical response will be available in case untoward incidents will occur, considering the Hermosa Festival is grandest and expectedly, the busiest festival in the City. — Richard Aliangan
