Col. Abner E. Maranoñ, commanding officer of the 6th Air Reserve Center (ARCEN), yesterday thanked Mayor Celso Lobregat and other significant people for having tremendously helped the unit in meeting its accomplishments for the past year.

“Mayor Lobregat has a heart of a true ‘Laang Kawal’ and this gazebo stands as a hallmark of his commitment in helping advance the objectives of the reserve force development,” Col. Marañon said during the program marking the 16th Founding Anniversary of the 6th ARCEN at the unit’s new gazebo constructed by the city government.

“Actually, hindi pa kuntento si mayor because he also promised to help in the construction of a comfort room, shower facilities, kitchen and laundry area within 6th ARCEN,” Marañon further said, to a round of applause by the reservists and guests.

“This major infrastructure project,” according the 6th ARCEN commanding officer, “would not have been possible without the support of Mayor Lobregat and for which
we in the 6th ARCEN are very thankful and grateful for him.”

For his part, Lobregat also commended the 6th ARCEN for continuously supporting the city government in all its programs and activities.

“Every time we have important events, we always count on the 6th ARCEN for support and you are always there ready to help us out,” Lobregat said of the air reservists, especially for donating blood during last Sunday’s mass blood donation activity which he initiated.

Meanwhile, Col. Marañon took pride in the 6th ARCEN for consistently pursuing its mandate to make a significant role in national development by continuously engaging the different stakeholders in its area of responsibility in support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ internal peace and security plan.

He said for this year alone the unit was able to recruit 2,516 basic and advance Reserve Officer Training Course (ROTC) cadets including 75 cadets who graduated from active duty training and 5 schools have been tapped for PAF-ROTC Program, thus significantly increasing the ROTC enrollees for the first semester of this school year.
