Elderly Filipino Week celebration culiminates Friday PDF Print E-mail

The celebration of “Elderly Filipino Week” from October  1 to October 7 will culminate on  Friday with home and ward visits, charity works and field trip with the Federation of the Senior  Citizens Affairs of the Philippines  Zamboanga City Chapter.

The activities are supported by the Department of Health, Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga City Chapter,  District 2 Rep. Erbie A. Fabian, District 1 Rep. Beng Climaco-Salazar, Philippine National Police, Department of Social Welfare and Development, City  Social Welfare and Development, Zamboanga City Medical Center, City Health Office, City Mayor’s Office, Regional Steering Committee on Older Persons and Senior Citizens barangay level and different non-government organizations.

Councilor Benjamin “Nonong” Guingona, chairman of the City Council’s Committee  on Elderly and Disadvantaged, said that on Thursday there will be a program for the acknowledgement and recognition of FSCAP officers and federated members of the city.

Guingona thanked all government agencies and the city government headed by Mayor Celso Lobregat and non-government organizations for the success of the celebration.

Among the activities of the one week celebration were a motorcade, the Seniors Grand Tai Chi exercise at Paseo Del Mar, medical services at Plaza Pilar, blood pressure check-up, face and tongue analysis for the SC’s, nutritional counseling using traditional Chinese medicines approach. — Allen Abastillas
