NBI agent nabbed after shootout with policeman PDF Print E-mail

An agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was arrested after he engaged in a shootout with policemen in Dipolog Cityat midnight  last Monday.
Arrested was Vicente Essex Minguez, 49, Agent V, assigned in Dipolog City.

Minguez was detained at the Dipolog police station pending the filing of charges against him.

A police report disclosed that Minguez, who was under the influence of liquor, fired his gun indiscriminately in front of the NBI office. Timely, PO1 June Guardi Bajao, who was off duty at that time, responded but Minguez reportedly opened fire on him triggering an exchange of gunfire.

Operatives of the Dipolog City Police Station led by Supt. Kenneth Mission also responded to the incident and managed to convince Minguez to surrender.
Minguez hid inside the NBI office while negotiation was being conducted by the police for his surrender.

Few minutes later, Minguez came out with both hands raised and unarmed.

Recovered from Minguez’ possession were identification cards, firearm documents for 9mm and .357 revolver and Indonesian and US currencies. — Dan Toribio Jr.
