A 27-year-old man who was reported to have been abducted in Siocon, escaped from the hands of his abductors while he was being transferred to Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte last Tuesday afternoon.

A police report disclosed that Absar Uddin, 40, married, and employee of the Toronto Venture Inc. (TVI), and a resident of Sta. Maria, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, reported to Siocon Municipal Police Station that his nephew identified as Benhar Salamat y Kailo, married, was seized gunmen.

The incident took place around 3 p.m. last Monday while he was transacting business at M Lhuiller pawnshop in Barangay Poblacion , Siocon.

Few hours later, an unidentified man contacted the victim’s father through cell phone informing that Salamat was in their custody. However he did not identify their
group.

Police conducted hot pursuit operations in various places in Siocon but did not find Salamat.

The following day, Salamat contacted his relatives and informed them that he was able to escape from the hands of abductors while they were about to transport him to Sibuco.

Salamat said he sailed to Basilan by pumpboat.Relatives proceeded to Basilan to fetch him. — Dan Toribio Jr.
