Vice Mayor Cesar Ituralde yesterday expressed full support to the newly-installed Task Force Zamboanga (TFZ) chief, Col. Buenaventura Pascual, as he also assured the latter that the city government will continue to provide necessary logistical assistance to the said military unit.

Buenaventura yesterday paid a courtesy call on Ituralde at his office at the Sangguniang Panglungsod yesterday afternoon.

“I assure you that the city government under the able leadership of Mayor Celso Lobregat will continue to provide needed logistical assistance to the Task Force Zamboanga in our collaborative efforts in maintaining peace and security in our beloved city,” Ituralde said.

In their brief meeting, the vice mayor also asked the new TFZ chief to exercise close coordination and cooperation between the local police and other law enforcement agencies in the implementation of security measures and operations in the city.

Ituralde said that as close partners of the local police the TFZ can greatly assist the police authorities in running after criminal groups especially those involved in nefarious activities like the illicit drug trade and kidnap-for-ransom.

He said that the presence of Task Force Zamboanga has been very effective in deterring terroristic activities in the city.

For his part, Pascual disclosed that he will further strengthen security operations in the entire city particularly the establishment of more stationary and mobile checkpoints and patrols.

The army official said that as of now the TFZ has enough security personnel including attached units from Westmincom and Naval Forces Western Mindanao for the security requirements of the city.

Pascual said that he is also in close coordination with City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo in the implementation of security plan for Zamboanga City.
