Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Elpidio Z. De Asis Jr. has directed  all police unit commanders in the region to secure all police camps and offices, vital installations, economic key points and places of convergence of people.

De Asis’ directive came as a precautionary measure against possible retaliation from lawless Moro groups after government troops attacked a kidnappers’ hideout in Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay Monday night.

Police commanders have been given the discretion to upgrade or downgrade their alert level based on the prevailing peace and order situation in their resperctive area of responsibility.

De Asis issued the directive when he presided a command conference yesterday at  the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office in Barangay Sanito, ipil. It was attended by all Police Provincial and City Directors.

De Asis said that as of  October 14 up to the present, alert status of PRO9  remains at full status.

De Asis  reminded unit commanders to always remain vigilant at all cost to ensure the safety and security of each community in the region, to secure all strategic points in their AOR, conduct police visibility patrols and random checkpoints on the different entry and exit of motorvehicles  and to work and coordinate closely with the local government units and the military.

He also called on the people to help law enforcers combat lawlessness by giving information through text messages.
