“I want peace, unity, progress and development to reign in  the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao most especially in Basilan and Sulu and other areas.”
Thus declared former Anak Mindanao Partylist Rep. Mujiv Hataman, who is seen as the next top man of ARMM, in an interview yesterday together with some ARMM officials.

Hataman explained that with the blessing and support of President Noynoy Aquino he will do his utmost best to unite the leaders of ARMM and the people towards peace and prosperity.

On the bombing indicent at the House of Representatives four years ago in which Rep. Wahab Akbar was killed, Hataman said the law provides a 15- day reglamentary period for the Akbar family to file a case against him and other suspects. He said the period lapsed and no case was filed against him.

“That is why  the Department of Justice dismissed the case because of lack of evidence and no ground for filing,” Hataman pointed out.

“Im not angry at Akbar’s kin and why they are angry at me. Why they make it personal and politicizing the bombing incident against me? I advise them before they judge others to first check their life and judge it. Akbar’s kin should be fair and consult their lawyer . I want people to look forward for peace and development in Basilan and stop fighting,” Hataman stressed.

Meanwhile, Hataman suggested that the Armed Forces should conduct a thorough investigation on the Oct. 18 encounter in Basilan in which 19 soldiers killed and several others wounded.

“I support President Aquino for justice and peace for the soldiers,” Hataman said.

Fomer Sulu Rep. Yusop Jikiri also said the perpeprators should be punished base on facts and truth.

Sources said that Hataman will take his oath before President Noynoy Aquino  as officer -in-charge governor of ARMM two weeks from now. — Allen Abastillas
