Deputy House Speaker for Mindanao Beng Climaco the other day turned over a road concreting project to residents of barangay Sta. Maria as she pursues projects intended to help alleviate the plight of the constituents.

Costing P1 million, the road project is located at the Ecxecutive Village in Sta. Maria.

The inauguration was held Friday, November 4, with Barangay chairman Justo Lacandalo and other barangay officials, representatives from the office of City District Engineer Merham Acas of the Department of Public Works and Highways, contractor Lito Pichel and residents of the Executive Village.

Cong. Climaco who personally led in the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon said the project was identified by the barangay officials and folks themselves.

Every year, the lady solon conducts consultations or dialogues with barangay officials and residents to determine and identify the priority needs of the people. Based on the consultations, the District I congressional office allocates the funds and implements the identified projects and programs.

The funding for the Sta. Maria road concreting project was taken from Cong. Climaco’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Climaco has vowed to continue to work together with the city government and other concerned agencies for the implementation of more projects and programs for the benefit of the people not only in District I but the entire city of Zamboanga.

As this developed, Sta. Maria barangay chairman Lacandalo expressed gratitude to the congresswoman for the road project, as he cited the many benefits that it will give to the thousands of residents in Executive Village.

He said the residents are very supportive of the plans and programs of Climaco as these are all for the advantage of the constituents. — Marvin Segura
