Lobregat unveils P1.5-M Rio Hondo school bldg PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat inaugurated yesterday afternoon the newly rehabilitated two-storey building with six classrooms amounting to P1.5 million at Rio Hondo Elementary School in barangay Rio Hondo under District I.

Undertaken by RRMEC, the school building project brought to P23.278 million the total amount of various infrastructure projects that the city government under Lobregat’s administration had implemented in Barangay Rio Hondo over the last five years.

For 2011 alone, Rio Hondo, a Muslim-dominated barangay, received a total of P12,252,454.14 worth of projects, most of which are still under construction. These include the construction of Barangay Hall amounting to P2.5 million, improvement of health center in the amount of P159,870.30, construction of comfort room worth P212,936.81 and construction of dormitory building amounting to P9.330 million at the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST).

Other projects completed this year in Rio Hondo were concreting of 220-linear meter road costing P338,038.80, construction of Police Community Assistance Center amounting to P1,321,462.76, and the school building.

In 2010, Rio Hondo has had P1.7 million worth of projects that included a road network, concrete catwalk, footbridge, a police precinct and fencing. In 2009, the barangay received P906,216.70 worth of projects, P2.6 million in 2008 and P2.652 million in 2007.

Also present during the turnover program were Councilor Rudy Lim, chair of the City Council’s education committee, City Engineer Luis Vicente L. Despalo, representatives of the school principal, the contractor and City Schools Division Office.

Early on, Lobregat together with Councilors Lim and Nonong Guingona, the city engineers and architects conducted an ocular inspection of the ongoing construction a three-storey 27-classroom building at the Zamboanga City High School Main in Tetuan. — Vic Larato
