A Zamboangueña working for a micro-finance company was shot dead by holduppers who took the firm’s collection in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur yesterday afternoon.

Killed was Emily Ocol, collector of KFI micro-finance. She was dead on the spot. The driver of the habal-habal motorcycle that she was riding also suffered two gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Reports reaching Daily Zamboanga Times disclosed that Ocol was returning to office with undetermined amount of money which was collected from clients when gunmen aboard a motorcycle stopped them and announced a heist.

Apparently, Ocol refused to hand over the money-collection which prompted the holduppers to shoot her and the habal-habal driver.

In Zamboanga City,  a 29-year-old man was shot dead by one of two motorcycle riding gunmen in Barangay Mampang last Wednesday night,

Momar Madriaga y Bono, married, sustained bullet wounds in the right part of the chest and head and was rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center where he expired while undergoing treatment.

A police report disclosed that Madriaga was taking their household garbage to the roadside a at the junction of Mampang and Alvarez Drive around 9:55 p.m. when two men aboard a motorcycle appeared and the backrider shot him several times.

The gunmen then sped away towards unknown direction.

Recovered at the crime scene were seven spent shells of .45 caliber pistol.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo said that investigators of the Tetuan police station were still working on the case. — Dan Toribio Jr.
