Mayor Celso Lobregat has enjoined real property owners to avail of the tax amnesty granted under Ordinance 375.

The ordinance allows real property owners to pay property taxes of prior years without penalty on condition that they pay their taxes on or before December 15 this year.

“Cuanto dia ya  lang antes el deadline na Diciembre 15”, the mayor said in chabacano as he urged real property owners who have not paid their taxes for the year 2010 and prior years to settle their accounts with the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) the soonest possible time.

He added: “No mas ya demora tiempo! Anda ya na Oficina del Tresurero del Ciudad y paga el de ustedes real property tax del maga año pasao!” (Avoid the rush, proceed to the City Treasurer’s Office and settle your real property taxes of prior years).

Based on Ordinance 375, no penalties will be imposed on those who failed to pay their real property taxes from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2010;  a 50 percent discount on penalties will be given to those who are delinquent in the payment of real property taxes from January 1, 2000 to December 41, 2004.

No discounts will be given to those who failed to pay their real property taxes from prior years to 1999, according to Ordinance 375.
