In line with its commitment to support the anti-human trafficking campaign in the country, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it rescued two female victims of a human smuggling syndicate at the Zamboanga City Pier early this week.

Lt. Cmdr. Algier Ricafrente, PCG spokesperson, said the victims are from Cavite City.

Ricafrente said that PCG units at the Zamboanga City port foiled the syndicate’s attempt to smuggle the victims to Sabah, Malaysia after receiving words from a confidential informant.

The two were allegedly recruited by a certain Anna and another person, identified only as Loti, in Pasay City.

They were promised supposed decent job with good salary in Sabah.

The two were immediately taken to the Visayas Forum Foundation for debriefing, court referral and proper disposition, Ricafrente said.
