A mechanical engineer was found dead with a bullet wound in the head inside the Baliwasan cemetery last Tuesday afternoon.
Police were looking into the victim’s death as possibly a suicide case.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo identified the victim as Engr. Cesar Sanchez y Martir, 75, married, of Alvarez Drive, Don Alfaro St., Tetuan.
Sanchez was discovered dead inside his car at the Baliwasan cemetery at past 5 p.m.

Recovered inside Sanchez’ car was a  9mm pistol and an empty shell.

De Ocampo said that Sanchez went to visit the tomb of his first wife before 5 p.m.

Sanchez’ second wife received two text messages from him telling her to fetch him at the cemetery because he was not feeling well. Another text message was expressing his love to his relatives.

Sanchez’ second wife was terrified when she arrived at the cemetery and found him dead inside the car.

Daily Zamboanga Times gathered that Sanchez had confessed to a priest about his depression few days before the incident.
The cause of Sanchez’ depression was not elaborated.

De Ocampo said that the engineer had undergone  paraffin test while the gun was submitted to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination. — Dan Toribio Jr.
