Boxing enthusiasts in Zamboanga City will once again be treated with exciting boxing bouts featuring today’s high caliber fighters in the country who will square-off tonight at Sta. Maria covered court.

The boxing extravaganza sponsored by ALA-Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing in cooperation with District 2 Congressman Erbie A. Fabian is a four-year-old professional boxing event which aimed to develop promising boxers  as future world champions.

It also serves as venue for scouting new boxers coming from all corners of the country who could be future world champions.

Tonight’s boxing bouts are expected to be exciting matches like its past episodes which featured  ranked fighters from the Philippines pitted against equally top local fighters.

Philippine Super Featherweight Champion James Bacon will trade leathers against another experienced boxer named Richard Olisa.

This fight is significant to Bacon, since it will be his comeback fight after a four-month hiatus. He last fought and defeated Elmer Legaria by the short stoppage enroute
to win the Philippines GAB Super Featherweight Championship.

Featured in the main undercard feature is another Super Featherweight prospect named Joseph Von Miñoza of Talamban, Cebu City who will exchange blows with former Philippine featherweight champion Elmer Legaria.

Meanhwile, new prospects Boyce Sultan, Cris Leon, and Lester John Prongco will make their debut fight as professionals. Ivor Lastrilla and Roland Magluyan, Mateo Arcillas and Edil Baston will serve as curtain raisers come fight night.

Undefeated Boyce Sultan will face Cris Leon in their first eight-round match while Minimumweight newcomer Lester John Prongco will be facing Bobong Sadio in a six-round bout set early in his career. — Noning R. Antonio
