Former and incumbent elected officials of the city, mostly belonging to the opposition, last week expressed willingness to coalesce with the group of Zamboanga del Norte political kingpin former Congressman Romeo “Nonong” Jalosjos should he decide to throw its hat in the political arena in Zamboanga City in 2013.

A day after Jalosjos’ birthday last November 24, 2011 held at the famous Dakak Beach Resort which he owns, the group of local officials led by the three incumbent councilors, Rommel Agan, Cesar “Jawo” Jimenez and Melchor Rey Sadain, together with former elective officials like Manuel Dalipe, son Mannix Dalipe, Atty. Juan Climaco Elago, Al-Jihan Edding and some other Zamboangueños also expressed sentiments on the present administration of Mayor Celso Lobregat in dealing with some serious concerns like the peace and order problem and the manner of running the affairs of the city such as the excessive charges that the city is imposing on local residents particularly in the usage of public comport rooms and the plan to charge spectators of  the 70 percent completed  dancing fountain at Paseo del Mar.

Many other concerns were brought out by the delegates from Zamboanga City during the birthday celebration that prompted Jalosjos to give hints on his plan to run for position in the city in 2013.

The group is urging Jalosjos to run for mayor.

Jalosjos said his urge to run for mayor in Zamboanga City has increased after listening the sentiments aired by the anti-Lobregat group.

Jalosjos was further encouraged after the opposition group composed of former barangay officials and leaders of the community presented documents appearing the signatures of 180, 000 people supporting Jalosjos’ candidacy for the mayoralty post in 2013 elections.

Jalosjos however did not announce a final decision  on the matter. — Jimmy Villaflores
