The chief of the Highway Patrol Group in Lamitan City, SPO1 Wilfredo Ator, has warned “hardheaded” motorcyclists  to wear helmet  while driving their motorcycles which must have complete their light accessories and side mirror for safety measures or else they will be apprehended and fined or penalized.

Ator  explained that many motorcyclists coming from far-flung municipalities and going to Lamitan City often violate the Helmet Law.

He said the motorcyclists always “politicizing  the law” by calling their mayor friends to interfere or to act as “padrino” for consideration or  making a lot of alibis for not wearing helmet.

“We will enforce the law no matter how hard it is. I hope these people from the rural areas should change their attitude towards the laws of the land,” Ator said.

Meanwhile, Ator expressed gratitude to Mayor Roderick H. Furigay for giving HPG Lamitan City a space for its office at Datu Kalun  Gymnasium. The office is equipped with a desktop computer and an airconditioner. — Allen Abastillas
