2 military ‘assets’ escape from custody of rebel abductors PDF Print E-mail

Two military assets were rescued by government forces hours after they were abducted by a faction of the Moro Islamic Liberation front in Jatian, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte last Monday afternoon.

Rescued were Nerissa Bacundo, 20, and Ayang Baroh, 25, place.

Report reaching the Police Regional Office 9 headquarters in this city  disclosed that the abduction took place around 3 p.m. while the victims were at their residences.
Police said that a group of armed men led by Norhan Mandi, Norin Ajih, and Ussin Araid, believed to be MILF rebels, surfaced at the said place and seized  Bacundo and Baroh and brought them to undisclosed place.

The incident was immediately reported to the police and military and a hot pursuit operation was mounted.

Apparently, while soldiers and policemen were chasing the abductors and their hostages, the latter managed to escape from the rebels custody. They were recovered by law enforcers aboard a motorcycle. The duo was described as under the state of shock when recovered.

Bacundo and Baroh were immediately put under investigation and debriefing. — Noning R. Antonio
