As part of the celebration of the 2011 Mindanao Week of Peace with the theme: Common Word between Us and You, Love of God, Love of Neighbor, the Interreligious Solidarity Movement for Peace (IRSMP) spearheaded this year’s recognition of significant individuals, communities and institutions of their tremendous efforts for peace and harmony in the city, Mindanao and country.

The four recipients of the Peace Weavers 2011 include the late Mayor Cesar Cortes Climaco (Posthumous), Fr. Fausto Tentorio, PIME (Posthumous), Dr. Socorro P. Canaya, Lt. Gen. Raymundo B. Ferrer, AFP and Claret School of Tumahubong- Basilan Province as the sole recipient for community.

It has been noted that IRSMP,  Peace Advocates Zamboanga and SALAM Peace Foundation have been honoring significant individuals and organizations, communities and institutions since 1998,  It included posthumous awardees like the late mayor of Isabela City Luis Biel II, Mr. Gemson Ismael, Hji. Ahmad Sakaluran, Fr. Reynaldo Roda, OMI, Prof. Datu Amilhussin Jumaani, Grand Mufti Ustadz Abdulgani Yusop, Archbishop Francisco cruces, Bishop Benjamin de Jesus, Fr. Cirilo Nacorda , Commissioner Hja Saphia Mustafa al-Rashid, Hadji Jainuddin Nuño and Fr. Rhoel Gallardo.

There has been a total of 33 individual peace weavers already  and they are Archbishop Carmelo Morelos, Ms. Dedette Suacito, Brig. Gen.  Hernando Lopez, Ret. Gen. Mohammad Ben Dolorfino, Prof. Octavio Dinampo, Esperancita Hupida and Merlie Mendoza, Fr. Romeo Villanueva, Mr. Gualberto Largo, Mr. James Abdul, Imam Yacub Ismi, , Adela Romero. Communities-awardees  include Villa Margarita, San Roque and  Taluksangay, institutions-awardees —  Gukom Sog Pito Kodolungan, Euntes Asian center, Catholic Relief Services- Mindanao Regional Office, Tzu Chi Foundation and World vision Foundation, Philippines.

Special peace citations were given to 12 individuals — Atty. Jose Manuel Mamauag, Rameer Tawasil, Vic Arevalo, the late Lorna Pulalon, Ms. Eloisa Ruste, Dr. Norma Vecina, Prof. Norma Conti, two communities — National Sama Badjao Movement and Ayudahan Human Development Foundation and one institution — ABS-CBN Zamboanga, and 2 peace centers- — Ateneo Peace and Culture Institute and Center for Peace and Development of WMSU
