Man wanted for series of gun attacks nabbed PDF Print E-mail

Policemen under City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo yesterday arrested one of the city’s top 20 most wanted persons in Barangay Mercedes.

Arrested was Arnel Dela Peña y Ituralde, married, a resident of Chimang Drive, Tugbungan. He was tagged as behind the series of killings in the city since last year.

De Ocampo said that Dela Peña was arrested by operatives of the Tetuan Police Station and Anti-vice Section led by Supt. Albert Larubis and Sr. Insp. Arturo Alejandro. He was nabbed in his hide-out at Calle Cape around 6 a.m.

The police director disclosed that  Dela Peña was arrested on the strength of a warrant for attempted homicide with case number 49904, issued by Judge Ivan Mendoza of the Municipal Trial Court Branch 2 of the 9th Judicial Region.

De Ocampo said that during the arrest, policemen recovered from his possession a fragmentation grenade and a .45 caliber pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.
De Ocampo further said that Dela Peña was also tagged as behind the shooting of Ryan Bernardo, who was wounded last October 12, 2010 around 10 p.m.

He was also the suspect in the killing of Rommel Ramilo last November 2, 1020 around 6 p.m.

Dela Peña was also linked to the gun attack that resulted in the death of Alvino Olarte alias Boy Negro last December 7, 2010 around 6 p.m. He was also implicated in
the killing of Sonny Boy Dalles who was shot to death last April 2, 2011 around 11 p.m.

Other cases linked to Dela Peña: the killing of Percival Ramos who was shot to death last May 29, 2011 around 3 p.m; the gun attack that wounded Bernabe Enriquez last July 15, 2011 around 8 p.m.; the gunslaying of Reynaldo Ramillano last August 20, 2011 around 5 p.m., and the the gun attack that wounded Reynaldo Tarranza last September 20, 2011 around 8 p.m.
