As Task Force Manhunt continues operations  against wanted persons in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police arrested anew two wanted men in separate occasions in Zamboanga del Sur last Saturday.

Arrested were Eric Mendoza, 33, a farmer, who was charged with robbery and Elmer Gonzalgo, 18, who was wanted for statutory rape.

The first operation was carried out at Mendoza’s safe house at Poblacion, Margosatubig about 8 a.m. His arrest was made on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Reinerio Abraham, of RTC Branch 29.

Mendoza was hiding for a long time until the lawmen received an information on his whereabout. He was detained at the said police station.

On the same day, Police arrested Gonzalgo, who was wanted for raping a minor.    Around 9 p.m., police swooped down on Gonzalgo’s hide-out following an information on his presence thereat.

Armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Benjamin Lanzaderas of RTC 9, Branch 2, the police cornered Gonzalgo who attempted to escape but failed.

Task Force Manhunt is one of PNP’s action plans to combat criminalities and lawlessness in the country. Its purpose is to account and arrest all wanted persons in the country from national, regional, provincial, city and municipality levels. — Noning R. Antonio
