A man who was tagged as the triggerman who shot and wounded a policeman in Barangay Victoria last month was committed to the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center the other day.

A police report disclosed that Christian Baring y Bañez was taken to the city jail and was detained following a court order for the case of frustrated murder with case number 26147 issued by Judge Tibing Asaali of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17.

Baring was put behind bar after he failed to post the P200,000 bail bond recommended by the court.

To recall, SPO3 Erold Galigao of the Sangali Police Station was on his way home in Bolong aboard a motorcycle last November 15 around 8 p.m.  when two men aboard
a motorcycle appeared and the backrider shot him at Victoria.

Galigao sustained two bullet wounds in the body and was taken to the hospital.

Baring was arrested the following day in Sangali after Galigao positively identified him as the gunman in the attempted gun slaying.

Baring had been detained at the city jail for several months before on similar offense.—Dan Toribio Jr.
