“I’m confident your chamber will be successful not only in all its future endeavors but most especially in fostering closer relations, understanding and cooperation with your Filipino counterparts, the Zamboanguenos in particular,”       Thus said Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde as he lauded the Turkish community in the inauguration of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (TCCP), Zamboanga City branch office located at Lot 5&6, Block 5, Suterville road, this city, the other day.

Iturralde, representing Mayor Celso Lobregat, said the Turkish community never missed an opportunity to make its presence felt in the city, making waves in different activities in religious, academic and civic affairs.

“Above all the chamber will strengthen the cultural relations of the Filipino and Turkish people with the belief that it is easier to realize strong trade relations if the socio-cultural relations of the two countries are strong and robust,” the vice mayor said.

He added whenever calamities strike in the city, the Turkish community is among those who would respond for assistance through relief goods and Zamboangueños are recipients of the Turkish brand of charity when it celebrates Eid’l Adha or the feast of sacrifice during which they slaughter hundreds of cows and distribute the beef meat to the poor and rightful recipients.

TCCP Honorary President Mehmet Cetin said the Zamboanga Office will provide information and assistance to local businessmen around the region as well as for Mindanao to develop and establish local and international business opportunities.

“This city has so many opportunities to offer and we can be successful, powerful and stronger together to realize our goal for the benefit of our community,” Cetin said.
The inauguration was attended by top police, military and government officials and local businessmen including dozens of Turkish businessmen and delegates headed by President Irfan Karabulu, PRO-9 Regional Director Elpidio de Asis, City Police Director Sr.Supt.
