Mayor Celso Lobregat has reiterated his call for all real property owners to avail of the tax amnesty by paying property taxes of prior years without penalty on condition that they pay their taxes on or before December 15, which is today.

Real property owners who have not paid their taxes for the year 2010 and prior years should settle their accounts with the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) on or before the end of office hours today.

Based on Ordinance 375, no penalties will be imposed on those who failed to pay their real property taxes from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2010;  a 50 percent discount on penalties will be given to those who are delinquent in the payment of real property taxes from January 1, 2000 to December 41, 2004.

No discounts will be given to those who failed to pay their real property taxes from prior years to 1999, according to Ordinance 375.

The amnesty period started July 25 and will end today, Dec. 15.

Prior to the deadline today, Mayor Lobregat has spearheaded a massive information campaign in a bid to reach out to all affected real property owners. — Sheila Covarrubias
