A policeman shot and killed a bolo-wielding man who attacked another policeman in Barangay Katipunan, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay last at dawn Sunday.

The fatality was identified as Edmon Albarado, 44, married. He was shot by PO1 Javier Adi Mika of the Payao Municipal Police Station.

A police report disclosed that Albarado who was armed with a bolo and a steel bar went berserk attacking his neighbors around 1 a.m..

Albarado’s wife Editha went to their barangay chairman, Jonathan Taruc, to report that her husband was creating trouble in their neighborhood.   

Taruc accompanied Editha to the police station to seek assistance.

PO1 Mika and PO2 George Macaso rushed to the place and saw Albarado still holding a bolo and steel bar.

The two policemen tried to convince Albarado to put down the bolo and bar and surrender,  but he ignored their plea. Instead he attacked Macaso prompting Mika to shoot him.

Albarado was rushed to the Payao Municipal Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Mika was turned over to the custody of his superior while the case was still under investigation.
