The first-ever Christmas Food Festival, one of the highlights of the 2011 Pascua na Zamboanga had a successful conclusion last night with variety of delicious cuisines and musical entertainment turning up the yuletide excitement at Plaza del Pilar.

In line with the thrust of the City Government in conducting Christmas-inspired events for the constituents, different food establishments in the city were invited to join the 2-day food festival that formed part of the calendar of activities of this year’s Pascua na Zamboanga.

The food festival ran from Dec. 16-17 at the Plaza del Pilar.

Alavar Seafood House highlighted their Pastel de Pollo, Hamon Chabacano, Budin de Pan and other mouthwatering dishes. Kape Zambo dished out their Kulma de Baka, Dinuguan, Salad de Amargozo, and Chicken Inasal.

Rekados Resto served their trademark cuisines like the Lechon Pogon, Guiwan Express, Toronets and many more while Collete’s Buko Pie and Pasalubong showcased their products like Ham, puto pao, export-quality coconut water drinks and a variety of sweet goodies perfect for the season of joy.

For only P150, participants to the food fest were treated with 4-5 combo meals including the selections of desserts.

Mayor Celso Lobregat together with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and Councilors Percival Ramos, Myra Paz Abubakar, Rudy Lim and Reinerio Candido graced the delightful evening, while also enjoying the musical selections from the different elementary schools.

With a medley of Christmas music, the Sta. Maria Elementary School Drum and Lyre Corps initiated the excitement of the evenings, treating everyone with heart-pumping rhythms.

WMSU Integrated Laboratory School performed their Christmas choral rendition followed by another performance from Ayala Central School. Both choral groups were winners of the Canciones de Pascua-a Christmas choral group competition which were conducted last December 9 at Plaza Pershing. — Richard Aliangan
