Police Regional Office 9 Director Chief Supt. Elpidio Z. De Asis Jr. has lauded and thanked the people and volunteers of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary under Task Force Zamboanga  in Barangay Limaong for the rescue of  three teachers last December  8.

Riza dela Cruz, Lee Mariano and Lerma Cabilis of the Limaong Elementary School were snatched by gunmen  around 3:45 p.m. The residents raised an alarm and CVO volunteers immediately chased the kidnappers who were dragging the three teachers towards the seashore. Realizing that they were cornered, the gunmen released the teachers and fled.

De Asis said without the help of the people, the three teachers would now be in the hands of kidnappers.

“The good working relation of the people and the CVO volunteers made the three teachers safe and secured. They were very lucky,” said De Asis.

De Asis called on the people to continue extending help to government forces by giving information directly or through text messaging.

On the other hand, De Asis disclosed that “Task Force ZamBas” was created to address the problem of kidnapping threats , criminalities and lawlessness against the populace. The task force is headed by Diriectorate for Integrated Police  Operations Western Mindanao Command with members from the Armed Forces of the Philippines headed by Brig. Gen. Gerry  Layug and Police Regional Office 9 Chief Supt. Mario B. Yanga. — Allen Abastillas
