Tetuan tops inter-barangay landmark tilt PDF Print E-mail

Barangay Tetuan bagged top prize of P75, 000 as grand winner in this year’s  Inter-Barangay Landmark Competition.

Tetuan bested 8 other barangays that participated in the contest and formed part of the 2011 Pascua na Zamboanga.

The announcement and awarding of winners was done December 17 capping the 15-day Pascua na Zamboanga festival. Mayor Celso Lobregat together with Councilors Rudy Lim and Myra Paz Abubakar personally led in the awarding rites held at the Plaza del Pilar simultaneous with the culmination of the 2-day Christmas Food Festival.

Following Tetuan as second placer is Sta. Maria with a cash prize of P60,000 while Tugbungan, which has been the contest champion the past several years landed third place with a cash prize of P50,000. Fourth placer is Tumaga with a cash prize of P30,000 while Pasonanca garnered the fifth place with P20,000.

All winners also received plaques of appreciation.

The entries in the Christmas Landmark competition were judged according to the following criteria:  artistry -50%; Craftsmanship-40% and Impact-10%.
Non-winning entries from the participating villages were rewarded with consolation prices of P7, 000 each. They were barangays Sta. Catalina, Zone II, Calarian and Baliwasan.

Meanwhile, Romeo dela Cruz of Barangay Mampang grabbed the top spot in the Open Lantern Competition with P10, 000 as prize money. He was followed by Eduardo delos Reyes with P7, 000.

The third place was awarded to Ronald Quibilan with P5, 000 while Marvin Carpio and Rogelio Elumbra captured the 4th and 5th place, receiving P3, 000 and P2, 000, respectively.

All non winning entries that made it to the top 20 selection were also given consolation cash price of P1, 000 each.

Mayor Lobregat during the awarding rites expressed gratitude to all participants in the different contests held in line with Pascua na Zamboanga that kicked off December 2 highlighted by the fireworks display and ceremonial lighting of the Christmas lights and landmarks in City Hall, Plaza Pershing, Rizal Monument, Paseo del Mar and Plaza del Pilar.

On the other hand, the 4 participating establishments in the first ever Christmas Food Festival were also awarded with special recognitions.

Alavar Seafood House was awarded with the Best Buffet Presentation. Rekados Resto got the judge’s nod having the Best Christmas Cuisine featuring its trademark dish Guiwan Express while Collete’s Buko Pie and Pasalubong was adjudged as having the Best Christmas Goodies. — City Hall PIO
