Lobregat exhorts ZCWD to send water tanker to CDO PDF Print E-mail

Other than providing financial aid and relief goods to victims of tropical storm Sendong, the city government in coordination with the Zamboanga City Water    District (ZCWD) is also set to send a water tanker complete with driver, helper and supervisor to Cagayan de Oro to help in sourcing out water and in distributing the same in areas where there is shortage of drinking water.

Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday has sought the individual consent of each member of the ZCWD Board as well as General Manager Chito Vasquez to approve the plan as another form of assistance to the victims of flashfloods spawned by tropical storm Sendong.

The truck complete with a driver, helper and supervisor will be sent to Cagayan de Oro City to assist the CDO Water District in the sourcing of water in all possible CDO water sources and in distributing the same to the affected residents.

Per reports, because of the devastation wrought by the storm-spawned flashfloods, water connections in the area have also been destroyed.
Lobregat said potable water is another problem besetting the people of Cagayan de Oro at present.

The truck, he said will be sent to Cagayan and stationed there to assist the CDO Water District in getting potable water in sources around CDO and to distribute the same to the residents in the area.

Meanwhile, the mayor said each ZCWD board member has given their assurance that the proposal will be discussed and approved during its meeting today.

The ZCWD board members are Edwin Caliolio, Edwin Makasiar, Engr. Efren Aranez, Nelida Atilano and Dr. Milagros Fernandez, board chair.

The city government, through Mayor Lobregat’s recommendation is also providing a financial assistance of P1 million each to the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

The city is likewise joining efforts with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Tzu Chi Zamboanga and other non-government organizations in appealing for donation of relief goods for the victims of tropical storm Sendong.
