Vice mayor shot dead, wife hurt PDF Print E-mail

The vice mayor of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay was killed while his wife was wounded in a gun attack in Ipil last Tuesday afternoon.

Vice Mayor Carlito Bayawa sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot while his wife Susan, was wounded in the left arm. She was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

A police report disclosed that Bayawa and his wife were walking towards an ATM machine of the Development Bank of the Philippines in Ipil Poblacion around 5:20 p.m. when a gunman appeared and shot them several times.  

Police said the gunman disappeared after the couple collapsed on the ground with bullet wounds.

Helpful residents took Susan to the hospital after she was seen breathing while her husband died on the spot.

Recovered at the crime scene were spent shells of .45 caliber pistol.
