Man arrested for illegal cutting of mangrove trees PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Sacol Police Station under City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo arrested a man who was caught cutting mangrove trees in barangay Pangapuyan last Thursday morning.

Sacol Police Station commander Chief Insp. Nonito Asdai identified the suspect as Mahajil Majid.

Asdai disclosed that he and his men were conducting area patrol around 10 a.m. when they spotted Majid cutting mangrove trees.

Confiscated from the Majid’s possession were an axe, shovel, sharpener and 2,000 mangrove flitches.

Majid was brought to the Sacol Police Station for investigation while the seized items were turned over to the investigator.

Asdai said that aside from lawless persons, they are also embarking on a campaign against illegal cutting of mangroves in their areas of responsibility. — Dan Toribio Jr.
