Because of the massive information campaign of the Zamboanga City Fire District of the Bureau of Fire Protection (ZCFD-BFP), there were no fire calls reported during the celebration of the New Year’s Eve in Zamboanga City’s east and west coasts.

This was disclosed yesterday by Zamboanga City Fire District Marshal F/Supt. Dominador F. Zabala, ir., who said that comparatively, the total number of fire incidents reported in 2010 were 39 while there were only 35 fire incidents reported in 2011 and the total number of fire incidents has decreased by negative 10.25 percent compared to the same period of previous year.

Zabala  also reported that the total damages in 2010 was P21,860,000,  while in 2011, the total estimated property damages was placed at P54,886,000 and the estimated damaged to property has increased by 105.44 percent compared to the same period of previous year.

The fire marshal attributed the zero fire calls on New Year’s Eve to the massive information and dissemination fire prevention campaign conducted by his personnel in the different fire stations and sub-stations in the city’s east and west coasts areas of responsibilities.

“I would like to thank also the different media outlets for helping us disseminate fire prevention and fire safety tips to the people, who also took precautionary measures in the fire prevention campaign of our district and I also thanked the city government under the administration of our beloved Mayor Celso Lobregat for his active participation in helping our fire district in terms of infrastructures and provision of firefighting facilities and other equipment that are badly needed in the augmentation of our services to the people,” Zabala said.
