Police yesterday said the two hired killers slain in shootout at the LB Supermarket last December 27 were the same gunmen who shot and killed a former female OFW at the Motorpool in Pasonanca two months ago.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo said that based on ballistic test, the .45 caliber pistol recovered from the possession of Melvin Mendoza was found positive as the same gun that was used in killing Melissa Felias in her rented house in Pasonanca.

Investigation showed that the names of Melvin Mendoza and nephew Johnny Mendoza appeared to be the gunmen who shot and killed Felias in her house at Motorpool, Pasonanca last November 21.

The two Mendozas were killed in shootout with policemen around 6 p.m. last December 27 after they shot and wounded a business couple identified as Jovelyn Buendia, 42, and Wilbert Mendoza, 46 .

Operatives of the Sta. Maria Police Station tried to arrest the two Mendozas, but the latter opened fire on the lawmen triggering a shootout.

Melvin, 36, and Johnny, 20, both of natives of Vitali and temporarily residing in Guiwan had pending warrant of arrest for homicide before they were killed in the LB Supermarket shootout.

Aside from the .45 cal. pistol,  the police recovered near the bodies of the Mendozas a Honda XRM motorcycle registered under the name of Mark Francis Lucero of Mampang.

De Ocampo has recommended meritorious promotion for the policemen who engaged in the shootout with the two Mendozas. — Dan Toribio Jr.
