Police have identified the man who stabbed and killed a farmer at Sitio Balinsungay, Mercedes last Tuesday afternoon.

Charges have been prepared by investigators of the Culianan police station against the suspect, Jesus Aro y Atilano, married, farmer of Pasobolong,  according to City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo.

A police report had earlier disclosed that Doroteo Araneta y Gonzales, 56, married, a farmer of Talabaan, was found dead with a stab wound in the ricefield at Sitio Balinsungay last Tuesday afternoon.

Investigation disclosed that Araneta had figured in a heated argument with Aro regarding irrigation matter.

As investigation progressed,  the police gathered that it was Aro who stabbed and killed Araneta after they met in the ricefield.
Aro remains at large as of press time. He is being hunted by the police. — Dan Toribio Jr.
