Police have forwarded to the city prosecutor’s office a murder case against a man who was tagged as behind the gunslaying last December of an employee of the City Council who is the son of former city councilor

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo disclosed that the murder charge was filed against Rasul Mohammad, a resident of San Roque.

Police said that Mohammad appeared to be the primary suspect in the killing of Elmer Enriquez y Hernandez, son of the late Councilor and former police chief Elias “Ely” Enriquez.

Investigation disclosed that Mohammad had figured in a heated argument with Enriquez before the shooting, due to the exploding of firecrackers in their neighborhood in San Roque.

Enriquez was near the barangay hall of Cabatangan at past 8 p.m. last December 30, 2011 when a gunman appeared and shot him at close range.
The gunman escaped after the incident.

Mohammad remains at large as of press time, but the police assured he will be arrested as soon as the court will issue a warrant of arrest.

De Ocampo further disclosed that police investigators are working double time on all other crimes, especially gunslayings, in this city.

He said  that there were cases that have already been solved and the perpetrators have already been sent to jail while others are still under police manhunt. — Dan Toribio Jr.
