House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao Beng Climaco is positive that various unfinished business of last year will be pursued during the resumption of the session of the House starting January 16.

Cong. Climaco will preside over the session of the House of Representatives on the first day on January 16 when some issues left unfinished in 2011 will be tackled.

“We are very positive that the (Supreme Court Chief Justice) Corona impeachment will proceed in the Senate,” the lady solon said stressing that during the session break (December 15-January 15), the Congressional Prosecution team has been working hard to come up with the necessary information and data related to the case.

She expressed elation that one of the volunteers in the prosecution team is a Zamboangueño. “I am very happy also that a Zamboangueño is serving as a volunteer for the team and we hope that we will be able to arrive at something very positive out of this”.

For Zamboanga City, on the other hand, the House Deputy Speaker is confident that the proposed by-pass road connecting the east coast to the west coast will be realized this year.

The lady solon has been following up the road project with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) since last year  and the national government has committed to have it implemented as soon as necessary documents and transactions have been completed.

“Hopefully we want to see some changes also with our new ARMM OIC that issues like the Cabatangan property will already be resolved”, Congresswoman Climaco said stressing that the idea has been broached to the authorities concerned.

“We broached this idea before and we will reiterate this soon”, she said. “We also hope that we will be able to have some inputs as far as security is concerned in our District to contribute to the city government”.

And on the regional transfer issue, the lady solon said a request for an audience with Malacanang officials tasked to study the issue has been made in a bid to find out the developments or progress on the matter.

“Up to now we have not seen the results of their report and hopefully by this year the president will be able to decide on the issue of the regional center”, she added. — Marvin Segura
