Paseo del Mar and Plaza del Pilar, two of the city’s leading tourist landmarks, will feature every weekend fun-filled experiences and adventures through interactive science exhibits, courtesy of the Association of Science Advisers of Zamboanga City and the Association of Science Advisers of the Philippines.
This developed after Mayor Celso Lobregat extended the invitation to Ruben Angeles, president of the Association of Science Advisers of Zamboanga City, during the opening yesterday of the science exhibits at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School gym.

Dubbed as Science Caravan, the exhibit will run for one month at DPLMHS Gym and features 40 replicas of the Philippine Science Centrum’s interactive science module exhibits, which Mayor Lobregat found entertaining and educational, and fit for people going to Plaza del Mar and Plaza del Pilar.

Lobregat, who tried on all the exhibits, asked Angeles to coordinate with the City General Services Office to facilitate the materials needed for the transfer of the exhibits from DPLMHS Gym to Paseo del Mar and Plaza del Pilar during weekends.

The exhibit is envisioned that more and more Filipino youth will be more interested in science and technology by employing the exciting interactive learning technique.

Present during the opening program were officers of the Association of Science Advisers of the Philippines headed by its president Aurora Catabona, Marvin Wee of the Department of Science and Technology, Dr. Macybelle Tee, science advisers and principals of the different public secondary schools in the city.

As this developed, Catabona thanked Mayor Lobregat for supporting the Science Caravan that is expected to draw students from different schools. — Vic Larato
