Mayor Celso Lobregat together with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and some councilors motored anew to the east coast yesterday for a series of project inaugurations, this time in Bolong where a total of P12,345,802.84 worth of various infrastructure projects were unveiled.

First stop of the inauguration sortie was in Paminguitan, Bolong where an irrigation structure measuring 70 linear meters long was unveiled in the amount of P495,764.01 and under undertaken by RV Dagalea Construction firm.

Lobregat and his entourage then proceeded to Mangga-Bolong to inaugurate the fence worth P300,000 at Mangga-Bolong Elementary school. From there they inaugurated the 300-linear meter road worth P2,950,838.83 along the famous Bolong beach. It was undertaken by ACO Construction company.

From there, they went to the nearby Bolong Elementary School to unveil the newly constructed three-storey nine-classroom building amounting to P8,105,200.00 undertaken by BEAM Construction. Also unveiled was the school’s drainage system costing P494,000.

In his message, the chief executive said the projects are proof that Zamboanga’s progress and development are not only concentrated in the city proper but in all the 98 barangays of the city. Last week millions of pesos worth of different projects were inaugurated in Mangusu, Sibulao, Bunguiao, Dulian in Upper Bunguiao, and Taluksangay.

The inauguration of the Bolong Elementary School 3-storey 9 classroom building yesterday, Mayor Lobregat said, was very significant not only because it ensured quality education for children in the area but also because the building serves as a symbol of the people’s courage, strength and determination.

Meldy Sator, owner and manager of the BEAM Construction, the company that undertook the school building project, accidentally fell from the second to the first floor of the building while under construction a few months back that almost cost her life.

Wheelchair bound, Sator showed courage, determination and strength in pursuing the project and was personally present during the inauguration and turn over ceremony yesterday. “This inauguration is doubly significant and we thank Mrs. Sator for her will and determination. She serves as an inspiration to all of us”.

Joining the mayor and vice mayor were Councilors Lilia Nuno, Nonong Guingona, VP Elago, Mike Alavar, Noning Biel and Eddie Saavedra together with City Engineer Luis Despalo and Bolong Barangay Chairman Antonio Evangelista and his councilmen. — Vic Larato
