City Planning and Development Coordinator  Melinda Sabacho Cabato passed away January 21, barely two months after she was diagnosed to have colon cancer.

She was 55.

Born on July 2, 1956, Melinda is survived by husband, Romeo; children Julius, Jarius, Jacius and Japer, in-laws, grandchildren and other relatives. Her body lies in wake at the chapel of the Cabato compound in Tetuan.

Mayor Lobregat has expressed his condolences to Cabato’s family and friends, saying she was not only a great loss to the family but also to the city government in which she had worked in various capacity since 1979.

A Master in Public Administration, Melinda joined the city government as an economic researcher of the Department of Development in 1979, a position she held until 1983, when she was appointed economist of same office until 1987.

From 1987 to 2002, she was promoted to senior development projects analyst, project development officer II to IV and City Planning and Development Coordinator until the time of her death.

Her body will be brought to City Hall on January 30 for the necrological service prior to interment at 2 pm at the Forest Lake. — VTL
