Councilor Benjamin “Nonong” Guingona, chairman of  the City Council’s Committee on Appropriation, yesterdat lauded District 2 Congressman Erbie A. Fabian in his effort to fasttrack the opening of a by-pass road that will start  in Barangay Culianan and winds up to Patalon in the west coast.

Guingona said that many farmers will greatly benefit from the by-pass road because it will facilitate the transport and movement of farm products to the market.

The by-pass road will also be beneficial to the people in general because it will create easy access to barangays  and will ease the traffic flow in the city proper.

Meanwhile, Guingona said the implementation of Mayor Celso Lobregat’s projects  for his remaining term of office will benefit the whole of  Zamboanga City, especially the education sector.

Lobregat’s priority infrastructure  projects that will be implemented this year has an estimate value of more than P600 million. They include the Limaong Bridge, Integrated Bus Terminal with water recycling plant which is now mandated by law social welfare,  school  buildings, river flash floods controls,  Farm-to-market roads, facility improvements at Paseo Del Mar, Plaza Pershing, development of Sta. Cruz Island and Pasonanca Park for tourism promotion and activities.

Guingona praised Lobregat for his good working relation with members of the City Council  who support  him.

“Lobregat is very transparent to the people and many projects are for the benefit of the people,” Guingona said. —  Allen Abastillas
